3 Hour Parking Approved for Cross Creek Road

The restrictions are meant to open the parking up to tourists and visitors and push employees to other parking spots in the area.

Three hour parking is coming to Cross Creek Road in Malibu's Civic Center.

The restrictions will apply to 29 spaces, which abut the Malibu Village and the Malibu Country Mart, seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Planning Commission approved a Coastal Development Development permit Monday for the three-hour parking on Cross Creek Road between Civic Center Way and Pacific Coast Highway.

The commission also granted a one-year review period, when Malibu's Public Works Department will weigh in on whether the program helps or hurts the area.

During a recent survey, 41 cars were parked along Cross Creek Road for three to four hours, and others were parked for up to eight hours.

The restrictions are meant to open the parking up to tourists and visitors and push employees to other parking spots in the area.

During a public hearing, Paul Grisante, who is on the Malibu Public Works Commission, said the restrictions make sense.

"It would benefit the shoppers," Grisante said. "It would also benefit the people who want to come to Malibu."
