A palm tree blowing in the morning storm hit power lines in western Malibu early Saturday, blacking out 2,188 homes and businesses.

Power lines fell onto Bonsall Road, near , at 7:03 a.m., said Southern California Edison spokesman Scott Andresen. Many customers had power quickly restored, and full service was restored at 8:39 a.m.
