Malibu Checkpoint Nets Five Arrests
Over 1,000 drivers passed through the checkpoint at John Tyler Drive and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
An overnight sobriety checkpoint in Malibu netted five motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The checkpoint was set up on Pacific Coast Highway at John Tyler Drive
from 8:30 p.m. Friday to 3:30 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks of the
Malibu/Lost Hills Station said.
A total of 1,368 passed through, and 1,350 drivers were screened, he said.

Five of seven drivers given sobriety tests failed, he said, adding that 12 drivers were cited for have no license, or a suspended or revoked one. Two other people were arrested for undisclosed reasons, and seven vehicles were impounded, Brooks said.
The checkpoint was funded by a state Office of Traffic Safety grant, he
said.
