Found Bones Could Be Mitrice Richardson's

The bones were discovered near the location where Mitrice Richardson's remains were found in August.

Eight bones found Sunday by county sheriff's and coroner officials in a Malibu Canyon ravine could be those of Mitrice Richardson, according to City News Service. The bones were found close to where Richardson's remains were discovered in August following her 11-month disappearance.

The bones appear to be from fingers, a wrist, the neck and ribs, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told CNS.

"They are small bones, very small bones,'' Whitmore told CNS. "They think these could be from her skeleton. They will have them DNA-tested, of course.''

Richardson went missing in September 2010 shortly after she was released from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station in the early morning hours with no car, wallet or cell phone. She had been arrested after she was unable to pay a bill at Geoffrey's restaurant in Malibu.

Separate lawsuits have been filed against the sheriff's department by each of Richardson's parents, who are not a couple, over its handling of the Richardson case.
