Malibu Artist to Showcase Series on California's Coast

Seda Baghdasarian will present more than 50 paintings from a decade of living along the coast in Malibu.

Malibu artist Seda Baghdasarian will present a solo exhibition of her paintings of California's coastline at the starting Saturday.

Baghdasarian's series on Oceans, which runs through July 25, features over 50 paintings from a decade of living along the coast in Malibu.

Baghdasarian, who is also an experimental filmmaker, art director and architectural designer, said she draws inspiration from the environment, especially California's beaches.

"Sometimes it can be told through a painting or a photograph, other times it can be as complex as a building or a built experience, as dramatic as theater or as subtle as a walk on a beach,” Baghdasarian said.

Born in Teheran, and raised in United Kingdom, she graduated with first-class honors degree in Architecture and Interior Design from London Metropolitan University.

A portion of proceeds from artwork sales will benefit Oceana & Sea Shepherd.

In addition to her Oceans show in Malibu, other upcoming exhibitions include a plein air show in San Luis Obispo in September.
