Malibu's Sea of Peace
Paddle boarders form the world's largest floating peace sign off Paradise Cove.
Paddle boarders came out for peace Saturday at Paradise Cove. Surf legends Dave Kalama and Laird Hamilton led the group out to sea, where they maneuvered to form the world's largest surfboard image. The unofficial record is under review by Guinness World Records. The event was put on by Malibu environmentalists Kelly and Ron Meyer in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council and Paradise Cove Beach Cafe.
Following the Peace Paddle Out, a dinner took place at the Meyer's home that raised $2.66 million for the NRDC's Ocean Initiative.
A previous version of this story said Guinness had confirmed the world record. A review is being done to determine if a record was acheived. Also, the category of the record was misstated. This has been corrected.
