MHS Art Students' Work on Display at Gallery

Photography and digital design students show their class mosaic project.

Students from Carla Bowman-Smith's AP Studio 2D photography and digital design class at Malibu High School have their work on display at the gallery at Graphaids, an art store in Agoura Hills.

Bowman-Smith, who teaches photography, digital design and yearbook, said the class did an assignment on photo mosaics—four images cut up into half-inch squares and then put together. She felt the works would look best displayed together as a group, and Graphaids invited the class to display their work for the entire month of February.

Graphaids opens its gallery display area to art groups and schools.

"We have been fortunate to have our work chosen for the last two years," Bowman-Smith said. "It is a great opportunity for us, as there are limited spaces to display work. We would love to show our work even closer to home if a space were available."

Students with work displayed are Isabelle Anderson, Rebecca Banks, Natalie Bark, Emma Blackwood, Micaela Brookman, Dylan Cranson, Itze DeJesus, Serena Emtiaz, Jason Frankle, Jose Guzman, Maggie Harrington, Kate Klevit, Carson Meyer, Jessica Murray, Akana Ozawa, Max Poswillo, Mattias Rosenberg, Emory Sittig, Carolina Sagarra, Paige Schwimer, Chasen Weiss, Scott Wesson and Jazmyne Wilms.

The students will submit their portfolios to the College Board in May, hoping for college credit for the advanced placement class.

Graphaids is located at 30135 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
