Pacific Voyagers Arrive in Malibu

The Wishtoyo Foundation leads a ceremony to welcome the visitors from New Zealand and other Pacific Islands.

Dozens of people packed the beach at Paradise Cove in Malibu on Friday afternoon to welcome the Pacific Voyagers. The visitors are on a journey that originated four months ago in New Zealand. They travel on ancient Polynesian canoes called vaka. The boats are powered only by the wind and solar energy. Their navigation tools are the stars and the moon.

The Wishtoyo Foundation led a welcoming ceremony for the guests, who represent 21 nations.
