Showdown at Malibu Lagoon Possible

Coastal Commissioners will be visiting the state park this morning. Protesters will be there too.

California Coastal Commissioners could get an interesting welcome later this morning when they visit the , the first stop on their bus tour of the city. Opponents to the have encouraged people through social media and other methods to be at the state park to protest.

Suzanne Goode of State Parks, which is in charge of the Malibu Lagoon Restoration and Enhancement Plan, is scheduled to speak from 11 a.m. to 11:25 a.m., according to the commission's itinerary.

The California Coastal Commission approved the project in October 2010, although many of the current members were not on the panel at the time. The project is scheduled to begin June 1.
