MHS Choir to perform at Carnegie Hall

The Malibu High School choir has been accepted to perform on stage at Carnegie Hall, as one of nine schools nationwide accepted to be a part of the National Youth Choir.  The 55 MHS students will join approximately 300 other students from around America, under the direction of Dr. Lynn Gackle.  Their trip will include three days of rehearsal before the performance on March 9, 2014.  Congratulations to these students, who get an amazing opportunity to perform at one of the most prestigious performance sites in the world!

In additional to several fund-raising activities, the families of these students are contributing to the costs.  However, the cost of getting 55 students to New York for four days of rehearsing and performing will be substantial.  If you are interested in sponsoring this trip, you could make an online donation to the Shark Fund at http://www.thesharkfund.org/ and designate the donation for the “Road to Carnegie Hall” fund.

There are many opportunities to see the choir perform before their trip to New York.  This includes the Orchestra and Choir Concert on December 5 at 7:00 p.m. and the Winter Chorale Concert on December 12 at 7:00 p.m.; both of these free concerts will be held in the MHS auditorium, and additional information is available in the Malibu Patch Calendar.
