Dark clouds and rainfall greeted some Malibu residents Monday as a storm system slowly worked its way into the Southland, with the threat of precipitation expected to continue into Tuesday.
The storm was expected to bring only minor amounts of rain in most parts of the Southland, with the exception of some mountainous areas.
The system "will bring continued gusty winds to interior sections through the evening, along with much colder temperatures, rain showers and mountain snow,'' according to a National Weather Service advisory.
"Rainfall amounts should be less than a quarter-inch in most areas, except around one-half to an inch in the favored south-facing slopes of the Los Angeles and Ventura County mountains.''
The snow level was expected to drop to around 5,000 feet tonight into Tuesday.
"Snowfall amounts will generally range from 1 to 3 inches, with 3 to 6 inches possible in the eastern San Gabriels,'' according to the NWS.
The storm was expected to taper off Tuesday afternoon.
In the meantime, a wind advisory will be in effect until 9 p.m. for the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys, and the Los Angeles County mountains, with
the exception of the Santa Monica range.
