Laurie Principe attributes her family's love of cooking to the four prizes she brought home this weekend at the Malibu United Methodist Church Pie Festival.
"We love to cook and we have a great big kitchen," Principe said of the process of making the 11 pies her family entered into the festival. "We had a huge mess to clean up."
In addition, her husband, Dennis, won second place for his chocolate peanut butter dream pie.
Laurie Principe won first place for her naked apple pie and third place for her organic sweet apple pie. She also won second place for her organic blueberry pie and third place for her chicken pot pie.
The mom of three said she has been entering pies into the festival for the past seven years, but that this is the most her family has brought home.
"We can't wait until next year when our growing family can compete for even more ribbons," she said.
