Malibu Fitness Class Spins to Raise $7K for Sandy Relief

Donations are still being accepted for the fundraising effort, which is being spearheaded by Lavinia Errico of Malibu.

More than 30 Malibuites raised $7,000 for victims of Superstorm Sandy on the East Coast in a special spinning class at Malibu Fitness over the weekend.

Each of the class members made donations to assist those in New York and New Jersey recovering from the devastation of the storm.

The event was spearheaded by Malibu resident and Malibu Fitness member, Lavinia Errico, who is from New Jersey, and members who could not attend the fundraiser also donated to the cause.

She said the room was pumped with energy.

"It is nice to know that our workout counted for more this time than just another workout," Galate said.

Donations are still being accepted and checks should be made payable to "Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund."
