Red Flag Warning Issued for Malibu Area

Northeast Santa Ana winds with gusts up to 40 mph are expected Tuesday.

A red flag warning will go into effect Tuesday in the Malibu area, according to the National Weather Service.

The red flag warning will begin at 4 a.m. and last through 6 p.m. Tuesday, forecasters warned.

Gusty northeast winds with gusts up to 40 mph and low humidity are expected, according to the NWS.

The winds will peak Tuesday morning and diminish by Tuesday afternoon. A wind advisory will be in effect midnight through noon Tuesday.

A red flag warning means that if a fire breaks out, there could be a rapid spread and a threat to life and property, the NWS said in a statement.

In response to the high fire danger from hot, dry and windy conditions, the city of Malibu will close Charmlee Wilderness Park and Trancas Canyon Park on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The parks will reopen upon notification that the red flag warning has been lifted.
