The following meditation was sent to me by my dear friend and author Tzvi Freeman.

On this holiday we dance in a circle. What is the point of dancing in a circle?

If you are one person, there is no point. You will only return to the place where you began.

But if you are not one person, if you are not "I," but "us"–then the circle will become a spiral, taking you higher and higher. For when the I melts away into the we, ours soul may fly.

And that is what the Jewish tribe will be doing this Thursday night, on the celebration called Simchat Torah.
