Bands Battle in Malibu

Young local musicians compete in the Battle of the Bands Friday night at the new City Hall.

It was a full house at the performance theater of the new  Friday night for the sixth annual Battle of the Bands, hosted by the Harry Barovsky Memorial Youth Commission. Nine bands and soloists competed in the musical contest.

The judges selected Kenon, a  10th-grader, for the top prize. He was the first person to rap in the event’s history. Sabrina Lentini placed second and Impakt placed third. The viewers’ choice award went to Ote for President. Other performers included Reckless, Jasmine, Whiskey Tango, Maggie Valdman and The Rhine.
