Malibu Patch: I understand you are putting on a fundraiser this week at the Malibu Inn to benefit Saving K9 Lives Plus. Can you tell me about the nonprofit?

Jasmin Gabay: Saving K9 Lives Plus is a non-profit animal rescue/advocacy founded by the husband and wife team Bobby and Jasmine Kimball. This non-profit was developed a year ago to help animals in need from owner surrender to dogs on death row at the shelter. The PLUS in Saving K9 Lives Plus is to include any animal that needs help.

Malibu Patch: Why is it important to raise funds for this group?

Jasmin Gabay: The non profit was developed to help pay medical bills for animals in need. Right now our non profit is over $4,000 in debt. With additional funds we can help treat more animals and raise awareness of the animals that are suffering daily. It’s estimated that over 3 million animals are being put down every year ... This is the life of an animal rescue and the more financial help, the more creatures get saved.

Malibu Patch: You are bringing together an eccelctic group with Spencer Davis "Spencer Davis Group", Robin McAuley "Survivor", Bobby Kimball "Original Lead Singer of Toto", Howard Leese "Guitarist/Writer from Heart and Bad Company". How did so many different people come together for this cause?

Jasmin Gabay: Jasmin and Bobby Kimball worked in the entertainment industry. Bobby is a Multi-Grammy award winning Vocalist, original lead singer of Toto. Most of the celebrities have worked with the Reality Project, "Saving K9 Lives" promoting adoption and spay/neuter. All our friends are animal lovers/advocates or being aware with a little loving help. Bobby has done many fundraisers, one of the is with Rock for Vets, music therapy for the veterans.  In turn Rock for Vets is helping us with our first fundraiser.

Malibu Patch: What can people expect from the evening?

Jasmin Gabay: The evening is going to be a fun filled evening with live music performances by these legendary performers, a fun auction that will consist of autographed guitars, signed/numbered litho, signed production drawing from Nickelodeon, and many other outstanding & unique items. There will be raffling off a DVD movie library collection, laser animation cells from Dreamworks, plus various types of gift baskets. The auction will be held by Jack McGee, actor from TV series Rescue Me. The glamorous, Dyan Cannon, legendary actress, will be our hostess for the evening.

Tickets are $50 and available online.
