City's 20th Anniversary Celebration
The city hosts a two-day celebration for the 20th anniversary of Malibu becoming a city.
A "Picnic in the Park" will take place at 12 p.m. on March 27 at . The next day, there will be a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the new featuring past council members and others.

The City of Malibu established its independence when it incorporated on March 28, 1991. To mark the 20th anniversary of that historic event, a committee of local volunteers has been planning a community celebration that will take place on Sunday, March 27.
Former Mayor Joan House and Public Safety Commissioner Carol Randall are co-chairing the citizen's group, which announced some of the events and activities that will be part of the celebration.

The festivities, scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. in Legacy Park, will center around an old-fashioned, community "Picnic in the Park" which will feature:
- Food and refreshments donated by local restaurants and citizens will be offered or you can pack your own picnic lunch and enjoy the activities.
- Children's' activities, such as face painting, magicians, jugglers, story-tellers, etc. for children of all ages
- Music to suit all ages will play from noon to 4:00 pm, and will feature local professional musicians. There will also be surprise performers.
- T-shirts, sweatshirts and coffee mugs will be sold to commemorate the occasion and underwrite the cost of the event.
