Douglas Kmiec discusses and signs "Lift Up Your Hearts" at Diesel Bookstore

Diesel, A Bookstore in Malibu welcomes author, activist, and former ambassador Douglas Kmiec to the store to discuss and sign his new book, Lift Up Your Hearts, on Sunday, June 10th at 3pm.

Featuring an introduction by Martin Sheen, Lift Up Your Hearts is a powerful meditation on faith, hope, and loss. The most recent addition to the author's acclaimed books on politics and religion, Lift Up Your Hearts describes events that have shaped his recent years, from his decision to endorse Barack Obama for president, to his ambassadorship in Malta, to the tragic car accident in California that left two of his friends dead. Kmiec tackes all these difficult topics head-on in honest, revealing prose.

Ambassador (ret.) Douglas W. Kmiec is Caruso Family Chair and Professor of Constitutional Law & Human Rights at Pepperdine University. In addition to being an author and syndicated columnist, he has been privileged to serve Democratic and Republican presidents alike. Until recently, upon nomination by President Obama and confirmation by the Senate, he was U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Malta, where he completed the construction of a $125.5 million embassy compound and upgraded the security and economic ties between the Mediterranean and the U.S. A Fulbright Scholar, White House Fellow, and honorary degree recipient, the Ambassador is a graduate of Northwestern and USC.
