Jan Booker at Diesel Bookstore

Diesel, A Bookstore in Malibu welcomes local author Janice Booker to the store to read from her new memoir, Across from the Alley Next Door to the Pool Room, on Sunday, April 15th at 3pm.

This new memoir chronicles the author's childhood in South Philadelphia when the area was populated primarily by Jewish and Italian immigrants. It is rich with local characters, customs, and finely-observed details, and is both a humorous and moving tribute to a bygone era.

Janice L. Booker has had a career that spans writing, broadcasting, teaching and lecturing. She is the author of three books and many articles for newspapers and periodicals. Her Philadelphia radio show, "The Janice Booker Show," introduced writers, artists, and public events to audiences over a period of 17 years. She taught journalism at Temple University and memoir writing and public speaking at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
