Local author Derek Taylor Kent signs Scary School books at Barnes & Noble

Just in time for Halloween, local author Derek the Ghost (Derek Taylor Kent) will sign his books Scary School and Scary School 2: Monsters on the March on Friday, October 5 from 4 – 8 PM at Barnes & Noble Thousand Oaks.

You think your school is tough?  Welcome to Scary School, where the teachers include Principal Headcrusher, Ms Fang and Dr. Dragonbreath, and where misbehaving students spend detention in a room with Mrs. T, a hungry Tyrannosaurus Rex. In Scary School and Monsters on the March, 11-year–old narrator Derek the Ghost tells of the adventures of Charles Nukid, the – you guessed it – new kid at the scariest school on earth. Join Charles and his classmates Petunia, Johnny the Sasquatch, and Peter the Wolf as they prepare for the Ghoul Games, attend the Dance of Doom, and inadvertently start a war with the Monster King Zog when Zog’s daughter Zogette develops a crush on Charles. The books are spooky, ooky, and laugh-out-loud funny!

Local author Derek Taylor Kent started writing books at the age of 15. A cum laude graduate of the UCLA School of Theatre, Film, and Television, he has worked in the film industry as an actor, writer, and as Director of Development at Visionary Entertainment. Kent also teaches children’s writing classes through the Children’s Writing Pad. His next book, Scary School 3, is due to be released in June, 2013.
