Malibu Artist Shwayze Returns to Home Town for Show

Malibu-born rapper Shwayze performs Friday night at the Malibu Inn.

Rapper Shwayze rocked out at the Malibu Inn to a packed house Friday.

Shwayze, whose real name is Aaron Smith, grew up in Malibu and only recently moved to New York for his musical career.

Before the concert, he recounted that while in Malibu, he worked at Pavilions, Starbucks, Clout and the Malibu movie theater.

"Before music, I had every job in Malibu basically," he said, adding that he is excited to return home.

"Once you step out of Malibu you really appreciate its beauty and its simplicity," he said.

Shwayze performed songs from his latest EP "Shwayzed and Confused," which has five songs. 

He said he took care to pick his opening acts, Starting 6 and Paul Couture, to set the stage for a night of fun.

"It’s a showcase of really good music. I guarantee whoever is going will have one of the best nights," Shwayze said.
