Malibu High Choral Groups Bring Home Awards

The middle school and high school groups receive top prizes in a variety of categories.

students had outstanding performances in the Music in the Parks Choral Festival in Anaheim this past weekend. There were 24 choirs from California, Arizona and Nevada participating in the event.

All four Malibu High choirs received “Superior” ratings (the highest rating possible):

  • The Middle School Concert Choir won in the Class A Middle School Treble Choir division.
  • The Middle School Girls Select Choir won in the Class A Middle School Women’s Choir division.
  • The Middle School Girls Select Choir also was first place out of all middle school choirs that performed regardless of school size or ensemble type.
  • The High School Chorale won in the Class A High School Mixed Choir division.
  • The High School Women’s Chamber Singers won in the High School Women’s Choir division. The group also received first place overall out of all competing high school choirs regardless of school size or ensemble type.
  • Malibu High senior Ren Martinez was named top overall soloist.

The Malibu High choral groups performed under the direction of Malibu High choral director Amy Loch.

“Congratulations to all of our fabulous MHS choral members,” Loch said. “I am very appreciative and proud of all of their hard work. And thanks to all of the parents who came to cheer us on. It was great to have you in our audience.”
