What started as a "Malibu Locals Only" night as part of the Malibu Music Festival is continuing at the Malibu Inn.

Local bands will be front and center the first Thursday of every month, according to organizers.

Performances by the Karma Dealers, the Harsh Carpets, Peachfuzz, Michael Stahler and Daniel Page are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4, starting at 7 p.m.

The cost is $5.

Apparently some people are confused and understandably think that this "malibu locals only" night means that only locals are welcome. I just wanted to be sure that anybody who is reading this understands that this night merely features malibu local bands and in no way is trying to exclude anybody or intimidate non locals. Since rents are high, and business is business, local promoters and management tend to book bands who are guaranteed to pack the house and who have fans that are willing to pay a small fortune at the door. This is not good for the local music scene. The purpose of this monthly event is to revitalize the local music scene by having a door charge anybody can afford. Since this is only the beginning, and everybody who came to the first event is still talking about how much fun it was, its only a matter of time before this thing takes off and everybody knows where they can go locally to have a good time.
