Malibu Music Festival Returns Later This Month

The Malibu Music Awards and Festival will include a week of live music at local restaurants and an awards ceremony on Saturday.

A week of live music is in store for visitors and residents in Malibu as part of the lead up to the Malibu Music Awards later this month.

The awards ceremony, now in its fifth year, is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the . Industry legends Glen Campbell and Seth Riggs are expected to be awarded Lifetime Achievement and Impact honors, according to Denise Cotellesse, a spokeswoman for the event.

Comedian Scott Conner will host the ceremony and present awards to artists in music of the past year. Performances will include NBC’s The Sing Off Season 3 a cappella champions Pentatonix, American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, Nick Richards & Boys Don’t Cry, Dominic & Scott Kay of the Commodores, country artist Harley Jay, Thomas King and Steve Scott, according to Cotellesse.

For the second year in a row, a weeklong Malibu Music Festival will kick off Sept. 17 featuring musical talent at Malibu venues, including Geoffrey’s, Charlie’s, Dukes, Sunset Restaurant & Beach Bar, Kristy’s, Moonshadows, Spruzzo’s, Savory and Guido’s, Cotellesse said.

All festivities for the week will be free to the public.

The Malibu Music Awards benefits the Malibu Symphony Association, a 501c3 organization, local community music efforts, and local children's music programs, she said.

Tickets to the awards ceremony are available at for $25 for general admission and $45 for VIP. VIP tickets include access to the pre-awards reception, VIP seating, and gift bags. Tickets are available to purchase online at http://www.malibumusicawards.com/tickets.php.
