My Friend, Malibu's Noah Threlkeld
Some people are just different than others...their hearts are bigger, their judgement is better, their humanity is more refined. My friend, Noah, is just one of those people. Here is how I know:
Noah Threlkeld was born in Florida...he didn't have a life of luxury. If truth be told, Noah actually had a rough and tumble childhood. Not like the one he and his wife, Gabby, are trying to create for their young son, Zion.
Noah has taken more lumps and bruises and cuts and scrapes than just about anyone I know...physically and emotionally. When I caught up with Noah he was putting all of his life lessons to work for him; he was an accomplished "work of Art" by the time I met him 4 years ago. I am sure that he would say that he was far from a "masterpiece", but he was heading in that direction. He is easily one of the most quality people I know, let's just start there. The event that provoked me to write this long overdue celebration of my friend happened a few months ago. It doesn't sound extraordinary but I can assure you, it was. My 16 year old son, Westy, had accidentally cut his had on a broken window...no one was home but his 13 year old sister. He texted me in panic but I was in the ocean and his mother was out of town. He was bleeding pretty heavily and he needed some assistance. Noah heard about my son's accident from a phone call. He rushed down to our house with Gabby and son and took over...he carefully calmed my son, sterilized and wrapped his wounds, including a splint, and then by the time I arrived, he was sweeping the broken glass into a dustpan.
These kinds of heroics are commonplace for Noah. He would often come over and make gourmet meals at our home. Noah is a trained gourmet chef whose presence in our kitchen is always welcome. He would come to your rescue in a flash, even if it's only an emergency craving for chicken dijonaisse. He has always been there for me and my family. His wife, Gabby is a modest, though breathtaking beauty (inside and out) and I can assure you that she is spending her life with one of the classiest and most grounded individuals anywhere. Noah treats Gabby like the angel that she is....and his son, Zion, has a truly devoted father.
Noah has been a great role model for my son, Westy. You can never have enough great male role models when you are young and I couldn't think of a better one to have lived next door than Noah. Noah lives a thoughtful and purposeful life, one that includes service to others in his community.
If you are looking for Noah you might start with the ocean..he is an accomplished surfer who is a joy to find in the water....a joy to find anywhere.
Thanks Noah..for being a great version of a human being!
