3 Hurt in Rollover Crash on Kanan Road

The crash was blocking a northbound lane on Kanan Road near Malibu.

Two men and a woman were injured Tuesday in a rollover crash on Kanan Road near Malibu.

The crash was reported at 11:02 a.m. Tuesday on Kanan Road north of Latigo Canyon Road, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang. The northbound lane was closed for several hours before being reopened.

A 21-year-old man from Los Angeles was driving a 1994 black Honda Civic with two passengers southbound on Kanan Road when he drifted onto the dirt shoulder, striking a storm drain, according to Tang.

"The storm drain caused his vehicle to go up the embankment where it rolled up on its roof," Tang said.

The driver suffered moderate injuries while a 21-year-old man in the passenger seat had moderate to major injuries. Both were flown to a hospital by a Los Angeles County helicopter for treatment.

A 27-year-old woman from Los Angeles in the back seat was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Tang said.

The crash was under investigation.
