VIDEO: Bank of Books Celebrates Grand Opening

Bank of Books owners Clarey Rudd and his daughter Tammy, as well as manager Ann Lambert Vannoy celebrate the grand opening of the bookstore in Malibu.

Bank of Books celebrated its grand opening Thursday with a special ribbon cutting ceremony, culminating weeks of local author discussions and book signings at the Point Dume Village in Malibu.

"It's been wonderful. Malibu has embraced us," said Tammy Rudd, daughter to owner Clarey Rudd, who has two other locations in Ventura.

Bank of Books, which is run by manager and Malibu resident Ann Lambert Vannoy, opened in July, but waited until late October and early November to begin the grand opening festivities.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was put on by the Malibu Chamber of Commerce.

Mark Persson, interim executive director at the chamber, said he was pleased with the opening.

"This is much more than a bookstore. It's more like a museum," Persson said, referring to the rare and collectible books that the store offers.

Malibu Councilwoman Laura Zahn Rosenthal also attended.

"Malibu now has two book stores. For so long there were zero book stores," Rosenthal said. "... I'm so glad you took the risk and the investment in our city. We will work hard to return that investment for you."
