Fireball Tim Lawrence To Sign, Discuss New Children's Book

Fireball Tim, who blogs about cars and his life in Malibu on Malibu Patch, will sign copies of his new book in February at Diesel. He hopes the book inspires children to be creative.

Malibu's Fireball Tim Lawrence will celebrate the release of his new children's book Sunday with a special book signing.

"Fireball Tim's Big Book of Wacky Rides," which was written and illustrated by the automotive blogger, is the first book in a series that highlights rides that range from the "Hugesters" to the "Snot Rocket," reminiscent of Richard Scarry's books of the 60's and the author's many movie car designs.

"There were no kid's car books on the market and I really wanted to share my love for cars, plus create something that showed children of the limitless possibilities of ideas," Fireball Tim said.

"When designing a movie car, you're creating a character that has to perform just like an actor. He has to do all sorts of things including be on time and not be tempermental," Fireball Tim said. "In a way, this book is full of movie cars because each one tells a story. They are all separate and again, all one."

He hopes children are inspired by the book to be creative.

"We are creative beings, but many kids don't get the opportunity to express because they don't have the tools to inspire their imagination. Or, they grow up in difficult surroundings. If a child can read this book and see that anything is possible, my hope is that it would becomes a part of them and ingrained into their belief system," Fireball Tim said.

Some of the proceeds from the book will go toward the National Mill Dog Rescue.
