Local Author to Discuss Cancer Survival Story

After being misdiagnosed several times, Susan Armenti's message is listen to what your body is telling you.

Author Susan Armenti will discuss her new breast cancer book at Bank of Books in Malibu next week.

Armenti plans to sign the book, read some excerpts and take questions about "Sensation in the Night, Waking up to Breast Cancer, What You Still Don't Know,"at 2 p.m. Jan. 20.

"You can find a lot of this information on the Internet. It never sort of comes to you in the way that is easy to digest as a cancer patient," Armenti said.

Armenti said she woke up at 3 a.m. and felt as if something was wrong, but was misdiagnosed several times. Her message: listen to what your body is telling you.

"The doctors are saying I’m fine. This still doesn’t feel right. I had to push for another mammogram and push for another biopsy," said Armenti, who was living in Malibu while she was pushing for the correct diagnosis.
