Malibu Resident Invents GolfBoard to 'Surf the Fairways'

Don Wildman invents the The GolfBoard, a motorized skateboard to replace golf carts on golf courses.

Don Wildman, founder of Bally Total Fitness and Malibu resident, has found a way to bridge the gap for younger golfers and the typically “old man’s sport.” The GolfBoard, a large motorized skateboard large enough to fit a golfer and their golf clubs offers a faster way to get around the course and a “snowboard-style workout.”

“It will do for golfing what snowboarding did for skiing,” said Wildman in an interview for The Nation. The 80-year-old Malibu resident was named the fittest man in America over 75.

The board can ride up to 36 holes without a recharge and rides as fast as a golf cart, 12 miles per hour. The board can hold golfers weighing more than 250 pounds. Mass production of the GolfBoards will begin in January.
