Sunlife Organics Chef Ian Martin has been cooking up some special raw vegan dishes over the past few weeks as part of an effort to introduce new items to the menu.
Martin is normally at the Malibu restaurant on Heathercliff Road from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. three times a week. He has been using the time to introduce his original raw vegan creations.
"I try to make it as favorable as possible," Martin said while whipping up a chipotle, kale, avocado salad.
Martin, who is vegan, said he hopes to introduce some good sandwiches, soups and salads to "see what works."
Martin said he mostly eats raw vegan dishes because he believes it boosts his energy, health and wellness.
He also dabbles in desserts, including a vegan coconut dream cake this week.
