The city is abolishing the telecommunications commission, which has done yeoman work (under R Y A N Embry's helm) in going after the cellphone companies on outages and service problems. Not good.

Sounds like a dumb move on the City's part. Who is going to monitor the performance of cable franchisees to determine compliance with respect to the technical quality of the signals, the service performance with respect to response time and also the correction of problems reported and customer complaints? Who is going to monitor the proper application of State and Federal legislation dealing with cable television and telecommunications matters? The Telecommunications Commission is the watchdog group the ensures compliance, fairness and performance between the cable/telecommunications subscribers (us) and the cable/telecommunications operators.
