A wind advisory has been issued in Malibu and the nearby Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area.
The advisory is in effect through noon Saturday, with northeast winds between 15 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph expected, the National Weather Service reported.
In Malibu, the winds will be strongest along Kanan and Decker Canyon roads, according to the NWS.
The strongest winds are expected Friday morning and will persist through the mid afternoon, forecasters warned. The winds will taper off Friday night and restrengthen through Saturday morning.
In the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area, gusts up to 50 mph are expected on exposed mountain peaks and canyons.
Drivers, especially those of trucks and other larger vehicles, should drive with caution in the canyons.
