Green Memorial Lecture & Discussion Series: "Hudson River River School Art Movement"

Larry Jones leads this current event and history series with an in-depth look at America's first art movement, The Hudson River School.  A study of paintings os the 19th Century artists such as Thomas Cole, Frederick Church, and Albert Bierstadt will be used to look at our nations's history through that time.  We might discover why the landscapes of the Hudson River School paintings were recently shown to be the ideal of artistic beauty in all cultures and countries.

Mr. Jones will also take a look at at teenage slave girl named Phyllis Wheatley, who wrote such magnificent poetry during the time of the American Revolution that she was noticed by the like of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Hancock.

Journey through the history of Pt. Dume, complete with photos of it being a barren headlands to becoming home to hundreds of families.

Malibu United Methodist Church, 30128 Morning View Drive,  hosts the evening on Wednesday, February 19th, 6:45 - 8:45 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served at a reception preceding the program.
