"Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau" West Coast Premiere at Malibu Film Festival

The fourteenth edition of the Malibu International Film Festival announced its official headlining film, “Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau” a feature length documentary directed by Malibu resident filmmaker Sam George.

‘HAWAIIAN’ SYNOPSIS:
Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau chronicles the remarkable life and times of the late Eddie Aikau, the legendary Hawaiian big wave surfer, pioneering lifeguard and ultimately doomed crew member of the Polynesian voyaging canoe Hokulea. With its rich combination of archival imagery, dramatic reenactments, contemporary interviews and meticulously researched historical source material Hawaiian is a compelling examination of the tragic decline and extraordinary rebirth of the Hawaiian culture as personified by a native son whose dynamic life and heroic death served as inspiration to an entire spiritual movement.

FUNDRAISER:
The 2013 Malibu Film Festival is a fundraiser for the non-profit Festival to purchase a 'state of the art' outdoor digital cinema package including a (55ft movie screen, DLP projector, Dolby audio system, ) to screen films on the scenic beaches of Malibu each summer. Malibu and the audience demands a premiere film festival and this equipment will empower the Malibu Film Festival to entertain a larger audience and showcase artist's work in the best presentation possible. The equipment will be available to other non-profits (at no cost). The fundraising goal is ($75,000) to pay for the AirScreen digital cinema equipment.
