Starry Starry Nights Fundraiser in Malibu

A special evening under the stars is planned in Malibu to support the International Dark-Sky Association's efforts to preserve our local (and international) night skies. Please join us Thursday, December 12, from 7-9pm at The Sunset Restaurant on Westward Beach for an evening of music, food, prizes, education and star gazing.

Timing of this special event was not only chosen to give you a 2013 tax deduction, it also provides the opportunity to view December's Geminids meteor shower, considered to be one of the best and most reliable showers of the year, through a Celestron CPC Deluxe 925 HD Telescope with experts. Centuries ago a space rock collided with an asteroid and the remnants of that collision stayed in space for several human lifetimes without going near Earth. This December that space dust will light up Malibu’s night time sky showering us with 120 meteors per hour.

Special guests for the evening include: Bob Parks, Executive Director of the International Dark-Sky Association; Jim Benya, Professional lighting designer and co-creator of the IDA/IES Model Lighting Ordinance; and Deborah Burnett, Internationally recognized authority on light, health and wellness.

Minimum tax deductible contribution for attendees is $150 per person and includes food, beverages and star gazing on the beach. Grand Prize Raffle tickets available at $100 for items including a Celestron CPC Deluxe 925 HE Telescope (value $3,200). Purchase more than one raffle ticket at a discount, details available thru the provided ticket purchase link. You do not have to be present to win the raffle.

To RSVP and purchase event & raffle tickets, go to http://darksky.org/Malibu today. For more information, please contact Cynthia Kesselman at CynthiaAnnGoodman@gmail.com.

Cost: Payment required - $150 per person to attend includes food, beverages and star gazing with experts. Raffle tickets start at $100 each, discounts available for multiple tickets. Attendance not required to win raffle.
