SurfAid presents an evening with author Susan Casey and Laird Hamilton

SurfAid is teaming up with author Susan Casey and special guest Laird Hamilton as part of the Malibu Library Speaker Series on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Malibu Public Library.

Casey will be giving a talk on her most recent New York Times bestseller The Wave: In Pursuit of Rogues, Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean, in which she examines the power of the ocean, its ability to conjure monstrous waves, those who dare enough to conquer them, and how all are intertwined with such an unpredictable force of nature.

Hamilton, labeled as “the sport’s most complete surfer, displaying almost unnerving expertise in a multitude of disciplines, and flat out surfing’s biggest, boldest, bravest, and the best big wave surfer in the world today, bar none” by Surfer Magazine, will join Casey in sharing stories, images, and film of the ocean in its fiercest form.

Commenting on the evening’s festivities, SurfAid USA Executive Director, Randal Schober, said: “We are thrilled to have Susan and Laird speak on behalf of SurfAid and to join in their discussion of the nature of waves, the complexity of the ocean, and how it impacts us all. It will be a great night delving deeply into big wave surfing and beyond.”
