A small memory of the Pier View as it was closing, being replaced by the new NOBU... PCH in 1933 and the creepy Arcadia Hotel in 1899.
Although Nobu is a great restaurant, I miss Pier View as it was a place for everyone. A simple menu for the simple life. PCH in 1933, believe it or not, was bustling. Less traffic, but activity that was the beach life. This shot, coming up from SanMo.
And the Arcadia was a posh big hotel right on the bluff situated on what is now near the entrance to the Moomat Ahiko ramp from PCH. There's a lil' surf motel there, but the original stairs for the Arcadia are still there along with some old photos in the lobby.
