Range Extended 2014 CADILLAC ELR is GO!

Although these first production versions that just came off the line at this Detroit plant are for testing purposes, the new 2014 Caddy range-extended vehicle is a lock and coming to showrooms.

The ELR shares most of its mechanicals with the Chevy Volt coming from a hybrid powertrain featuring a 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a naturally-aspirated 84HP 1.4-liter gasoline engine (as a generator) and two electric motors reaching 181HP. But the ELR's powertrain is rated at 207HP & 295 lb-ft of torque allowing for a 0-60mph of around 8 seconds and a top speed of 100mph.

This, along with a zero-emissions range of 35 miles, but can be extended to 300 miles when using the gas engine, just like the Volt.
SoCal is getting the best of what Caddy has to offer to make out roads cleaner. This is a good step along with the electric Chevy Spark.
