Malibu Adoptions Can Save These Lives

By Andrea Braver & J. Flora-Katz

Pouf and Puff
Look at these two sweethearts  -- Pouf and Puff -- brother and sister, 12 years young each. A total weight for the pair of only 14 pounds. Perhaps that is the figure after they received their summer buzz cuts, with tails left fluffy enough to catch the breeze. Just imagine how extra cute Pouf and Puff will be once their coats grow in.

Pouf is a little dancer, animated and even giddy, rising up on her hind legs and shaking her front ones to get your attention. Her tongue juts out from between her teeth a tiny bit, making her even more adorable.

Puff is much more docile, preferring to lay quietly in the midst of his kennel mates, venturing out to visit when someone comes up, his eyes inquiring as to how he got into this place. When we reunited the two, as they are in separate kennels at the shelter, male and female, Puff followed his sister around, submissively letting her take the lead. She pranced about, quite the independent grande dame, acting like a little girl and loving the attention showered upon her.  This pair is not asking much -- except for you to love them for their remaining years.  Indeed both have some issues with their teeth.

In fact, Puff may not have many left. There's a slight curve to his lower lip belying the fact that some of those chompers may be missing. But, he's still happy to take a treat and very gently, too. When this pair came in medical staff wrote up "very sweet" on Pouf's record. A great testament to her character as they see so many dogs. Our South L.A. shelter is absolutely, utterly packed right now. Summers are tough with impounds.

Please consider giving Pouf and Puff a second chance at happiness. We know they'll make you happy as well. Please save lives, adopt these babies at Adoption numbers for Puff at A1412020 and  Pouf  at A1412017.

Pace
We need an Angel with a big heart! Pace needs a friend, even a bum leg doesn't slow down Pace's pace. He can still run a marathon beside you. And he can surely cuddle up with you afterwards.

This charming tricolor spaniel has an old fracture which his owner must never have noticed (I say that sarcastically). Or never felt the need to tend to. As it turns out, Pace has three vertical legs plus one horizontal appendage. Here's a video clip showing how our boy handles himself out in the play yard.

Pace will be facing amputation, most likely. Dogs do wonderfully on three legs! (Jae Flora Katz had one and is happy to share details!). A loving dog shouldn't be killed because of a simple injury that can be fixed!  We know many fabulous dogs with the distinction of being tripods as well.

Pace is only 4 years old and weighs in at 30 pounds. He's a good boy all around.  Even shared his kennel with a blind dog a couple of weeks ago. One other thing  --  he's so extremely handsome.  Has great potential for home movies.  Please consider picking up the pace and bringing Pace home with you.  Let's love him back to great health!  Open your heart today - Pace's Adoption ID number is A1411889.
