Mending Kids International Celebrates Successful Surgeries at Malibu Event

The children are from the Los Angeles area, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Christmas Island, Ghana, El Salvador and Guatemala.

Mending Kids International celebrated raising funds for surgeries for 18 children over the weekend at an event in Malibu. 

The children are from the Los Angeles area, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Christmas Island, Ghana, El Salvador and Guatemala.  

Mel Gibson, Louis Gossett, Jr., Nick Simmons and Dorothy Lucey, supporters of Mending Kids, were on hand while the kids were enjoyed a day with Alice’s Traveling Tea Party at a private residence in Malibu.
 
“Thirty minutes in the operating room is the whole difference between a childhood of teasing and a childhood of confidence,” said MKI executive director, Marchelle L. Sellers.

Mending Kids International has provided more than 1,300 surgeries in over 53 countries since its 2006 founding through surgical missions and surgeries. 

A pediatric cardiac catheterization mission leaves for Managua, Nicaragua on Saturday, Aug. 3.
