World Record Attempt in Malibu to Aid Homeless Children

The attempt will coincide with the 25th Anniversary of Pepperdine's Step Forward Day, the university's largest community service day.

School on Wheels, a nonprofit that tutors homeless kids, will attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest line of backpacks in Malibu this weekend.

The attempt will coincide with the 25th Anniversary of Pepperdine's Step Forward Day, the university's largest community service day, at Pepperdine University’s Alumni Park at noon on Sept. 7.

The nonprofit was started in 1993 by Malibu's Agnes Stevens, a retired teacher.

During the world record attempt, more than 2,000 students, alumni and faculty members will lend a helping hand across the globe, from Los Angeles to Shanghai.

Malibu Mayor Joan House and Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks will be on hand for the backpack lineup.
