Westboro Church Plans Pickets in Malibu

The group known as Westboro Church plans to picket on February 24th at Malibu Presbyterian, Waveside Church, Our Lady of Malibu and at Santa Monica High on the 25th.

The community of Malibu is one to be proud of as it instills ideas of love and acceptance among every individual. This post is to inform the residents of Malibu that the group known as Westboro Church plans to disturb this peace and picket on February 24th in various locations. They have planned at 8:45 to picket Malibu Presbyterian as well as Waveside Church at 9:30 and Our Lady of Malibu at 10:15.

As a community I hope locals can stand together against the hate Westboro Church spreads and let it be known that we do not tolerate it. The reasons WBC have to picket are nonsensical stating Malibu Presbyterian, "burned to ground by an angry God in the 2007 wildfires for their disobedience to His standards" along with other accusations I do not stand by and do not feel comfortable reproducing here. Please spread awareness of these planned pickets and the notion that we disagree with their ideals as we are in fact an accepting community.

There is also a picket planned for Santa Monica High, my alma mater and I'm sure many of yours as well, on February 25th at 7:00 am. There is a planned counter protest which you can view details about here: http://www.facebook.com/events/141485392679210/

My hope is that WBC does not show up, but if they do I hope we can stand together and let it be known we are a welcoming community that does not agree with anything that they stand for. If you would like to view their picketing schedule and reasoning it is posted here: http://www.godhatesfags.com/schedule.html
