With no shortage of talent in this town, and nowhere to play, what will the bands of Malibu do? There is a rumor that the Malibu Inn is the next on the list to get the ax. Are the rip-off door charges killing the scene? Is it the complaints from crybaby neighbors who buy homes across from legendary venues? Should the City of Malibu be concerned that places for local musicians to play are not surviving? Could the diversity ordinance prevent this kind of pattern? This town is in deep trouble if nobody can afford to run businesses where residents can hang out, listen to local musicians, and have a good time without their wallets getting rag dolled. Like art, music is part of this towns culture and identity. It seems like a major flaw in City Planning if all of the talented artistic and creative people have to leave town to share their creations. Does anybody care? …or is this town already dead.
