Anuhea, Hawaii’s No. 1 female singer/songwriter, is amping up to kick off her West Coast “Mr. Mellow” tour with Hildee_Brand at The Malibu Inn this Friday, Nov 16.
LA-born musician and poet, Marushka, released her first EP “Staring Back At Me” on Nov 1 with Baked Fresh Records, and will take the stage right after Venice Beach local reggae boys, Krooked Treez.
Guaranteed to start the night off right - Hildee_Brand added Krooked Treez to the show after they dropped their new single “So In Love With California,” on the Hildee_Brand Facebook Page.
With Black Friday sales approaching and Holiday Hits making their way onto our radio frequencies, the night will help keep our beach-bound, Malibu-Endless-Summer dreams alive. The Malibu Inn is gearing up to have another full house, packed with friends, family, and fans of from all over the Westside, LA, and Orange County.
Anuhea hopped on the phone with us this afternoon minutes before call-time for a soundcheck in Baltimore, MD. Sam from Hildee_Brand got the inside scoop on Anuhea’s musical influences, her sophomore album “For Love,” and life on the road!
Currently on tour with ROME, this sweet-as-pie, Hawaiian powerhouse is cruising the East Coast and surviving the pre-winter-freeze. She says, “We’re in Baltimore, Maryland tonight, so it’s COLD!” As her fanbase on the West Coast steadily skyrockets, Anuhea says she was stoked to hop on the East Coast leg of the ROME tour and get the chance to meet and play for her East Coast fans.
She comments, “It’s been fun to get away from the West Coast and see how my music has had an impact all the way over to the East Coast. It keeps me motivated.”
It’s all-about-the-fans, too. Anuhea is heavily focused on staying involved with her fans through social media networks, with the end goal of helping them build confidence and step out of their comfort zones. She’s currently running a social media contest that motivates her fans to post videos of themselves to YouTube performing renditions of her single “Mr. Mellow” for chances to win free gear, tickets, and VIP Passes.

She’s definitely a do-it-yourself type of woman - Self-taught guitarist and songwriter (Anuhea gives Jack Johnson props for inspiring her to pick up a guitar), Anuhea’s sophomore album, “For Love,” dropped earlier this year. She decided to go the “KickStarter Campaign Route” to release “For Love,” which gave her the ability to be 100% creatively involved in the album release cycle.
It also gave her the ability to get closer to her fans, giving them the opportunity to buy her album at pre-sale, while simultaneously giving her the foundation to record her new songs. Pretty epic if you ask us!
