Malibu, CA -- The Freedom Artists Surf Series is literally the only contest of its kind. Geared toward supporting the Malibu community with a heavy emphasis on fun, the 3-series contest gives the up-and-coming surf generation the opportunity to see their heroes compete at their home-break. It is also an outlet for local talent to showcase their abilities without the pressures of world-tour-competition. The contest series is in its 7th year, and always exceeds expectations of the community as a highly anticipated event series, chock full of give-aways, sponsor prizes, live music, and after-parties.
Born-and-raised in Malibu, Freedom Artists has remained true to their core culture of surf, skate, snow, music, film, and art. Evolving as an independent business and run by a group of friends drawn together by their love of art and community, Freedom Artists has been successful in representing and showcasing their lifestyle through collaborative partnerships with artists from al walks of life. Their roster includes Sage Vaughn, Russell Crotty, and Keegan Gibbs, to name a few.
Co-owner, Pascal Stansfield, comments, "The FA Series main goal is to give back to our community. This contest has has always been about fun, its a very relaxed competitive environment and it's main purpose is to give the kids the chance to compete in their own back yard. It also gives them a chance to see some of their heroes surf in the pro division. There is so much talent here in Malibu and we make an effort to give the up-and-comers as much support as possible."
This year the Series will be held at Westward Beach on May 18th, Zuma Beach on June 8th, and Leo Carrillo on July 12th. On May 18th, feel free to grab a bite, suck down a cold beverage, and take a break from the sun at The Sunset Restaurant from Noon-8PM, brought to you by Hildee Brand.
