A life-saving robot named in memory of Malibu's Emily Shane was featured Wednesday night on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.
The "Emily" is remote controlled by a lifeguard and can reach up to 24 miles per hour, and will be used this summer on California's beaches, according to ABC News.
Emily Rose Shane was killed when a car struck her on Pacific Coast Highway in April 2010. Her killer, Sina Khankhanian was earlier this month.
Tony Mulligan, who invented the device, knew Emily through his daughter and named the robot in her memory.
