President Obama to Honor Malibu's Herb Alpert

Herb Alpert, who is behind the Tijuana Brass phenomenon and co-founder of A&M Records, is known for his philanthropy in arts education.

Herb Alpert will be honored next week for his varied contributions to music and the fine arts.

The Malibu musician, who is behind the Tijuana Brass phenomenon and co-founder of A&M Records, is also known for his philanthropy in arts education. 

President Barack Obama will award Alpert and the other recipients of the 2012 National Medal of Arts and National Humanities Medal in the East Room of the White House. The First Lady is also slated to attend.
