Understanding Organic Architecture : A Life Work of ERIC LLOYD WRIGHT

Understanding Organic Architecture: A Life Work

Eric Lloyd Wright Retrospective at Malibu Lumber Yard Gallery

Frank Lloyd Wright is arguably the most well known architect in the world.  His vast career is staggering.  What is not as well known is the amazing life and work of his grandson, Eric Lloyd Wright, the only son of Frank Lloyd Wright’s first son Frank Lloyd Wright, Jr.

Eric’s portfolio includes the restoration and renovation of Frank Lloyd Wright and Lloyd Wright works as well as residences and institutional buildings of his own design.

Eric's current focus is on the evolution of Organic Architecture and Green Building design. His design philosophy is rooted in the integration of ecology, social responsibility and beauty. Through Eric's years of design experience, he has developed an understanding that it is not the physical walls and roof, but the space within a building that forms its character - its soul. He gives careful thought to a project's physical, social and spiritual environment, with a focus on appropriate materials, quality, craftsmanship, and careful detailing. Eric believes that one of the most important aspects of the design the client and site, together with the architect, that shape the design of a project.

Eric Lloyd Wright had big shoes to fill and a big shadow to work under. Yet with humility and grace Mr. Eric Lloyd Wright has quietly but steadily studied, lived and breathed the work of his grandfather and father. Eric apprenticed with his grandfather at Taliesin for eight years and then back  to Los Angeles to work with his father, Lloyd. While at Taliesin, Eric worked on many notable Frank Lloyd Wright buildings including the Tonken’s Residence and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In 1979, Eric was licensed and commenced his own architectural practice in Malibu.

Please join us for a retrospective exhibition of Eric Lloyd Wright's life & work.
